Wow!  Time sure has run away from me this past year,  or three or four. I'm older,  fatter,  and perhaps no wiser.  Hindsight is always great,  too bad it's name is so appropriate!  We had a stunningly beautiful autumn here in October,  surely the loveliest I've ever been lucky to see.   I got out on my power scooter and took numerous photos to remember it by.  I still have my little Yorky/Poodle mix, ...

It was a very good day for small town women that lived upstairs....with curls now in their hair....without any cares... Yep a good day indeed.  I was blessed with the gift of yet another day to do with as I see fit.  I greeted the morning with a smile and a Bluejay sang a song for me while he was perched on the telephone pole. I had the first perm in my hair today that I've had since 1993,  a long time baby,  to go with straight hair!  Oh my it looks better. My ...

Here's part of an old post,  I imagine it got posted here as well as my other blog.  It seemed fitting for this time of year. These last few days have brought frequent thoughts of my first husband and our time together back in the sixties. There's been flashes of memories, images of us lying together in bed and comparing our tans, working together in the field on a hot July morning,  riding side by side through a field or forest, just looking over at each other an...

I cut out an advertisement,  out of a magazine,  a few weeks back.  It shows a girl ofabout 8 or 9 years,  standing on what appears to be a beach with sanddunes and grass around her,  she's draped a curtain or piece of fabric around herself and is poised as if ready for flight.  She has a look of serenity and confidence usually not seen in one so very young and tender.  She's not fat,  however she appears to be a child with a large frame. Of c...

It's a peaceful day here,  no sirens,   no traffic,   temperatures in the 70's with only a whispering breeze stirring the fallen leaves. Chanel is camped out in the window sill,   after having slept in my lap for 1 1/2 hours....and is listening to the birds that occasionally sing.  The bed is made,   dishes washed,  trash out,   and all that remains is... Closets to be straightened and cleaned,  the filin...

There have been emails making the rounds here as well as in our mailboxes and I realize that somewhere,  someone had to think up the questions that are routinely asked.   There's a couple of them,   that are the same, on JU that have been posted by more than one blogger and many of us reply to the second and third go round.  It's fun to communicate to others our likes and dislikes,  ect. I got to thinking this past week about doing one myself,  ...

I was treated to the company of my number 2 child yesterday, and also Saturday,  so I wasn't around to blog about things that have been on my mind lately.  I had planned on blogged about the good things in life,  the things I take for granted,  the things I love, and why I have to keep kicking myself to try to be humble when I'm so happy.  Then tonight,  the city broke a water main and we have no water now until tomorrow...so i was going to blog about life's ...

OK,  just some information from "back in the day"  when I took a temp. cooking job at the Eau Claire County jail,  year was 1969. I think I've blogged about this before,  at least stated that I had cooked there.  Maybe I didn't write about the meals... Breakfast was basic,  oatmeal,  toast with butter and jam on the side.  Milk, juice, and coffe.  Fruit.  On the weekend I'd make pancakes and fry sausage and bacon,  with eggs. ...

My son and I have been playing "Pool" and another game that's like Scrabble,  called "Literati" I think.  We play them online and this concept is totally new to me! Being tech challenged I lost almost every single game until just this week,  then one night,  shortly after my blog about inmates and their meals,  somehow I managed to win 7 or 8 games in a row!  Gosh dang it,  he was "letting me win"!  Don't ya just hate it when someone "lets you ...

Things are going along swimmingly well here,  no new outbreaks of serious diseases,  no landlord just walking into my apt. when he feels like it,   no shortage of food,  and man oh man there's lots of heat in MN.! Just when it finally cooled down to a comfy 74 degrees,  the weather did an about face,  again.  That's the mid-west for ya. Well there's a cool front on the way,  should get here next Monday or so.. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~...

Perusing the local paper's "Sheriff's Report" is always an entertaining event. From the 4th of August came the story of a concerned citizen that called the Sheriff to report a suspicious person walking down the street,  carrying what looked like a gun. It turned out to be unfounded,  it was young blong girl,  dressed in jeans and tee-shirt,  carrying a birthday cake..... Ya that's the kind of stories we get up here.   Sadly there's always the "bad news"...

My cousin's daughter is close to death,  from cancer.  She has three children.  It started out as a simple case of a "little cancer"  in her finger and now she's lost her arm and it's infiltrated her body. This is what I hate about life.  It isn't right that a sweet, beautiful,  and otherwise healthy young person have this happen to them. The family is going to stay with the grandparents,  my cousin and his wife,  and then the kids will go with t...

Christmas cactus,  oh what a lovely plant.  My dear neighbor, Mary,  gave me her cactus as she doesn't have a green thumb.  Her daughter Rene,  who gave me rides to the Stillwater Courage Center,  told her mom that I love to rescue plants so now I'm inheriting plants... I feel rather like a fraud about the whole situation,  when I moved here I got into a bout of depression,  and my palm plant died off,  as did my violet ( that was an accident du...

What a Friday it's been so far,   the heat of course is unrelenting and continues to burn up the grass,  drying out the flower beds, vegetable garden,  and making it difficult to do much outdoors without breathing difficulties. I headed off to Wally-World this morning to get some milk and bread,  and though I'd planned on treating myself to a big bouquet of flowers,  headed off instead to the clothing area... Oh boy,  I came away from there...

So my son was engaged,  in October of 15. He proposed to her at the local pizza place,  he had them spell out "will you marry me?"  in green peppers!  The ring was placed in a box,  on top of the tray of garlic bread... She was all happy,  showing one and all her ring. October of 2016 my son was married to her.  Just her step-dad and 2 sisters on her side,  me,  my older sister,  and my oldest niece attended the wedding. Beca...
