My cousin's daughter is close to death, from cancer. She has three children. It started out as a simple case of a "little cancer" in her finger and now she's lost her arm and it's infiltrated her body. This is what I hate about life. It isn't right that a sweet, beautiful, and otherwise healthy young person have this happen to them. The family is going to stay with the grandparents, my cousin and his wife, and then the kids will go with t...
I"d just finished up an email to a dear friend, shut the computer down cause it was thundering, and lightening was streaking around..... and then turned on the tv and of course was shocked and sickened to see the 35W bridge bent in half, like a deck of cards, with cars crossways from each other, cars in the Missisippi River, half in and half out of the water, like a scene out of a bad movie. I used to use that bridge when I'd drive to th...
I'd heard of the movie, however hadn't seen it until tonight. It was on the Hallmark Channel and I promptly fell in love with it! It reminded me of tv shows and movies I"ve seen, part "Little House on the Prairie", "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers", and "Bonanza". Nothing like a feel good movie after a rought 24 hours.... Yesterday I went shopping for bread and milk and came home with strawberries, two new blouses, and a new skirt!...
Figuring out that new Kodak camera isn't as hard as I thought it would be for me. Usually I have to read and re-read directions a cajillion time before I get it. Tonight, after figuring out how to use the video cam part, the first two videos were of the cat, then I spied a herd of crows perched on the garage roof, LOL. My Lord, they were struting around and playing in the stagnant water like a bunch of teenage boys! There is Elvis ...
Fair warning here, if ya don't like "boring trite blog enteries" then do piddle along to the next blog... Thank you. Now, it's been a strange day here, I don't quite know what to make of it. People are so damn strange, so wonderful, and so, so.....well just plain confusing. One lady that lives here has been so nice to me! She gave a caftan that is satin in fabric, and the colors are rich and vibrant. Colors I'd never choo...
Perusing the local paper's "Sheriff's Report" is always an entertaining event. From the 4th of August came the story of a concerned citizen that called the Sheriff to report a suspicious person walking down the street, carrying what looked like a gun. It turned out to be unfounded, it was young blong girl, dressed in jeans and tee-shirt, carrying a birthday cake..... Ya that's the kind of stories we get up here. Sadly there's always the "bad news"...
Things are going along swimmingly well here, no new outbreaks of serious diseases, no landlord just walking into my apt. when he feels like it, no shortage of food, and man oh man there's lots of heat in MN.! Just when it finally cooled down to a comfy 74 degrees, the weather did an about face, again. That's the mid-west for ya. Well there's a cool front on the way, should get here next Monday or so.. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~...
My son and I have been playing "Pool" and another game that's like Scrabble, called "Literati" I think. We play them online and this concept is totally new to me! Being tech challenged I lost almost every single game until just this week, then one night, shortly after my blog about inmates and their meals, somehow I managed to win 7 or 8 games in a row! Gosh dang it, he was "letting me win"! Don't ya just hate it when someone "lets you ...
OK, just some information from "back in the day" when I took a temp. cooking job at the Eau Claire County jail, year was 1969. I think I've blogged about this before, at least stated that I had cooked there. Maybe I didn't write about the meals... Breakfast was basic, oatmeal, toast with butter and jam on the side. Milk, juice, and coffe. Fruit. On the weekend I'd make pancakes and fry sausage and bacon, with eggs. ...
I was treated to the company of my number 2 child yesterday, and also Saturday, so I wasn't around to blog about things that have been on my mind lately. I had planned on blogged about the good things in life, the things I take for granted, the things I love, and why I have to keep kicking myself to try to be humble when I'm so happy. Then tonight, the city broke a water main and we have no water now until tomorrow...so i was going to blog about life's ...
There have been emails making the rounds here as well as in our mailboxes and I realize that somewhere, someone had to think up the questions that are routinely asked. There's a couple of them, that are the same, on JU that have been posted by more than one blogger and many of us reply to the second and third go round. It's fun to communicate to others our likes and dislikes, ect. I got to thinking this past week about doing one myself, ...
It's a peaceful day here, no sirens, no traffic, temperatures in the 70's with only a whispering breeze stirring the fallen leaves. Chanel is camped out in the window sill, after having slept in my lap for 1 1/2 hours....and is listening to the birds that occasionally sing. The bed is made, dishes washed, trash out, and all that remains is... Closets to be straightened and cleaned, the filin...
I cut out an advertisement, out of a magazine, a few weeks back. It shows a girl ofabout 8 or 9 years, standing on what appears to be a beach with sanddunes and grass around her, she's draped a curtain or piece of fabric around herself and is poised as if ready for flight. She has a look of serenity and confidence usually not seen in one so very young and tender. She's not fat, however she appears to be a child with a large frame. Of c...
After a couple of days of feeling blue, tonight I'm more in the pink I'm inheriting my son's "clunker" as he bought himself a much newer, prettier, classier car. He's sooooooooooo happy with his new toy and I'm happy to be getting wheels. It might not look like much, however it'll get me to points A and B, just enough to get out of the house, and perhaps by spring I'll trade it in for something a tad newer myself.. I'm not...
Here's part of an old post, I imagine it got posted here as well as my other blog. It seemed fitting for this time of year. These last few days have brought frequent thoughts of my first husband and our time together back in the sixties. There's been flashes of memories, images of us lying together in bed and comparing our tans, working together in the field on a hot July morning, riding side by side through a field or forest, just looking over at each other an...
