Feel good movie helps the daily woes...
Published on July 18, 2007 By Trudygolightly In Blogging

I'd heard of the movie,  however hadn't seen it until tonight.  It was on the Hallmark Channel and I promptly fell in love with it!  It reminded me of tv shows and movies I"ve seen,  part "Little House on the Prairie",  "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers",  and "Bonanza".

Nothing like a feel good movie after a rought 24 hours....

Yesterday I went shopping for bread and milk and came home with strawberries,  two new blouses,  and a new skirt!  What a cute skirt too,  navy blue and white polka dots with ruffles on the bottom.  I've never had a skirt like this and when I tried it on I fully expected to look like,  well never mind,   it looked really nice on me.  Good thing since i loved it!

So I came home all happy and feeling on top of the world and KABOOM!  I took a header in the hallway.  I tripped on the vinyl runner I have,  actually there's three of them.  One extends from the entry door,  and two head off in different directions,  one to the living room and one to my bedroom.
It was on my way to the bedroom that I tripped,  I threw my left arm up to catch myself and really racked that arm up bad,  then hit and fell on my left knee,  the one that's had the total replacement in.  I was pretty dazed,   and didn't know where the blood was coming from that covered my right hand.

After a minute or two I dragged myself into the bathroom and yanked on the emergency cord and was happy as a clam to have the manager and her assistant pounding on my door and then letting themselves in.

Xrays at the hospital showed that the cement in my left knee is stable,  no damage done,  Thank God!  and my humerus is fine although horridly bruised.  The blood came from a small laceration on my thumb, and tonight I"m just thankful to be here and that I hadn't hit my head on the wall that my arm hit...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I went downstairs this afternoon, to have coffee with the gang and have a cookie or two to soothe the misery,  and discovered that two men have been raiding our vegetable garden,  at night.  Late afternoon yesterday they made off with prize cucumbers,  eating greenbeans as they went,  and smashed our tomatoes....
WHat a couple of assholes.
Most of the seniors here that work in the garden,  having purchased the seeds,  planted them,  weeded them,  and water them,  are in their 70's  up to their 90's.
I wish I could patrol that garden with a gun.....however shooting a man over vegetables isn't right,  yet it's lower than a snake's belly to steal from seniors.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Qwest is dumber now than they've ever been,  or else they're getting their jollies by giving me grief.  Remember how about 2-3 weeks ago,  if even that long ago,  they supposedly changed my numer,  at no charge cause they screwed up,  and made it unlisted and unpublished?   I think this is the third time now....yep,  it's the third time...well WHOOPS.. they did it again!  Another "glitch" in the system.   How did I find out?   LOL,   well my former landlord called me today.  I asked him how he got my number and he said from "directory assistance"....

The REAL kicker is WHY he called.  After being gone for 6 months now,  and after doing a "walk through" with FIVE people,  to check the condidtion of the apt.,  he says that NOW there's a stain on the bedroom carpet and that the current resident is claiming that it's from me!  and am I incontinent?!  He says " I hate to ask you this,  BUT...are you?

Good God almighty I read him the riot act!   I needed an outlet for all my physical pain and by Christ he caught it!  He quickly apologized and said he'd tell her what she could do,  and said sorry for even bothering me,  hehe,  NOW I'M gonna start........

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooo tomorrow I have an attorney to contact,  and public housing,  since SHE"S the one that instigated this.   Probably I won't get any satisfaction out of this,  HOWEVER....the landlord never paid me the interest due on the damage deposit,  NOW I'm going to go after it....

I might take care of a few other things that happened that I let slip,  "back then".  No this isn't just talk.  I know how to take care of business,  throught legal channels,   and win.  I've done it before,  and this time this person pushed too hard.   Time to reverse the pressure.  Nuf said.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
So late this afternoon as I checked over the garden,  I chose to pull my carrots early.  I like em tender and sweet and figured they might not be around another day.......I heard from the grapevine here that the local gendarmes aren't too quick to help us out here.  I don't know that for a fact,  if that's the case,   woow,  how to change that???  guess I gotta find out for sure if that is indeed the case.  I DO know that here in the suburbs that Meth is out of control and some of the crimes are worse than I suspected.  So the PD might not have time to help seniors that are being bugged by petty stuff.
We'll see....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Oh by the way,   it was soooooooooooooo sweet to go downstairs and have the gang welcome me back,  they had been concerned about the fall I took and were glad I was ok other than bruised.  Sure made my day!  My son must have been more concerned than I realized,  he called me at 10 last night and then again first thing this morning      That human connection makes it all worthwhile.

The summer can only get better,  when it comes to things like garden thieves,   and life can't get any sweeter you realize someone loves you and cares.

Sounds like you should get rid of them.  I had a neighbor who tripped on a carpet and broke her hip.  It's easier to clean the floors then heal from a fall.

6 months?  What has the new tennet been doing?  Living in a bubble?

Oops, I got this stain on the floor - I'll just say it was already there, because nobody has been through here at all to look at it, and as long as it's not MY fault I'll get my security deposit back. And nobody gets hurt.

Is it really worth all this hot legal action? Maybe, but I doubt it. You should probably let it go, unless there's a lot of interest on the security deposit.

Good luck with the garden, though.

you betcha!  I was just thinking of keeping em till winter and then using carpet tape,  now...don't think so!!  your neighbor's experience has scared me off!

Thank you!!

My thoughts too....guess the new tenant and my former neighbor lady have made friends and want to cover up her spilling her drinks,  she drinks like a fish...oy vey....

Well Jythier,   probably not.   Please take into consideration that I had a really bad fall on Tuesday,  then get this wierd,  inappropriate question from a man,  and accused of soiling a carpet that was left in pristine condition,   ( I do love my runners and carpet squares for keeping carpets clean...)

The interest on two years's worth of a damage deposit of a mere $500.00 isn't much I"m sure.  However the lawyer said my former landlord wasn't supposed to deduct for installing the refrigerator handle he replaced,  nor charge me for it as I hadn't broken it,  it was broke when I moved in.  Three people,  not including me,  know that.  Nor was he supposed to charge me for installing a new window blind in the bedroom,  the plastic casing snapped when I was closing the blinds and lawyer says that's normal wear and tear.

As to the landlord calling me and asking that kind of a question,  after 5 people saw the carpeting before we left,  6 if we include the landlord,  is ( according to the attorney)  harrassement.

I just wish to continue living my own quiet little life,  not bothering anyone,  and expect the same from others.

If he wants to start something after 6 months,  I'm on for the game.

Thanks for the thoughts Jythier   btw I have "cooled off"

  I rather think I'm a bit like a sick old dog,  pet me on the head,  utter a kind word,  and I'll wag my tail and go quietly back to sleep.  When someone kicks at me,  or tries to mess with me,  I get this "attitude"

 and thanks for the good thoughts about the garden,  I guess if they're hungry enuf to steal,  then that's ok.  If they're not,  well they'll be healthier for eating fresh vegies

I figured you would cool off, but if you're really insulted maybe you should consider taking the landlord down a notch. Especially with all those deductions that were his responsibility.

Personally I'd just as soon forget the whole enchilada!  I know that as soon as Qwest changes my phone number tomorrow ( Monday)  he won't be able to call me again,  however I get this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach that he doesn't want to let go.  He actually walked in on me a couple of times,  as well as two other,  different female tenants that have lived there....I think he's a closet weirdo myself.

Now that sounds a bit suspicious!

Glad you're ok after that fall. You definitely would need runners with rubber/non-trip backings on them if you like using them. Sounds like those thieves are hungry if they're eating the peas, but surprising they didn't eat the tomatoes! Maybe the garden should be fenced if there's none?

Thanks serenity the runners got rolled up until winter, then will tape them down!

The thieves haven't been back, guess they were members of a resident's family! They took the sign, "community garden" a little tooooooo literally!

The Dang crows are ruining the tomatoes!

Those green beans are scrumpious!

I suggested or rather "asked" if they've ever considered putting in a nice tall fence, and the manager said that "they've NEVER even considered it, nor thought of doing that!
Now that we know it was family of a resident, the "unwritten regulations" have to be written. No more extended family coming to raid the garden! That might be where the missing tomato plants went too this early spring! Right out of the greenhouse to a waiting car....
Jeesh, talk about no conscience, no common sense, just because ya live here doesn't mean your kids, grandkids, and other assorted aquaintences come help themselves!.....

Oh I shouldn't even get started on this.... LOL
