Life, laughs, love and tears.

After a couple of days of feeling blue,  tonight I'm more in the pink

I'm inheriting my son's "clunker"  as he bought himself a much newer,  prettier,  classier car.  He's sooooooooooo happy with his new toy and I'm happy to be getting wheels.

It might not look like much,  however it'll get me to points A and B,   just enough to get out of the house,  and perhaps by spring I'll trade it in for something a tad newer myself..

I'm not gonna get off scotfree however,  even though he's such a gentleman he wouldn't and hasn't asked for anything ( $$).   I asked him if he'd recently gassed it,  and yep,  $30.00 worth,  plus new tires,  and heaven knows what else.  So I'll pay for the tires,  gas,  and the "heaven knows what else"

That way I won't feel like such a bum,  and it will help him re-cupe his expenditures.

I tried some online quotes and went with the second one,  Progressive.  I"m pretty happy with the amount and coverage and for someone who hasn't had a car for 4 years,  nor insurance,  it was ok.

My record is impeccable,  however that doesn't translate to insurance companies,  I think they look at whether or not one has had coverage.  I did and then dropped it to take care of my dog.

Not a bad choice,  just didn't know what the consequences would be there. ... ahhh life.

So now I can drive myself to town,   and then go other places.  NO,  I'm NOT coming to a neighborhood near you,  or you,  or anyone else!  I'm just a gonna go look at autumn leaves,  and get lots of pictures with my new camera

HEY,  I can drive to the theater,   the pool,  ( oh that's closed now!)  the thriftshops,   antique stores,  the park,  the bar,  ooppps,   cancel that last one!

Whoopee!

Having dealt with Progressive (as the other driver), I am impressed with their claims service.  I have heard they like to low ball the initial policy and then jack it up, but I dont know about that.  if my Insurance company gets too pricey, I may go with them next.

Being the other driver often gets you good treatment. Marketing. But being a policy holder, they don't need to sell to you anymore... So that's the real test. But, if you're lucky, you'll never see it from either side.

Now that I have gotten rid of the moving target - I hope you are right! (6 times in 5 years, and the only one my insurance paid for was when I hit the Doe).

Their quote was lower,  by a LOT,  compared to Geico and it's reasonable for me.  4 years ago I was only paying #33.00 a month,  cause of my spotless record,  now after not having insurance nor car for 4 years,  it's $48.00 a month.  I can do that.

My son's insurance rates have continued to drop,  with Progressive,  so he's happy too.  He hasn't seen any increases,  only drops,  in his rate since 2000.  So hopefully they're the best all around

I would hope it's more than "being lucky" that keeps me from having to see it from the other side!  Having had a Class B driver's license with a Bus Driver Endorsement,  plus a Commercial Driver's License might have helped,  along with 8 1/2 years of professional driving.

I can get ( it's not always bad "being older") a discount if I take that "55 Alive" driver's course too.

I'm going to check around and see who has the most reasonable ( read "cheap) renter's insurance.  It's odd,  ya know?  when I owned my own home,  insurance was cheaper,  now that I have less to steal,  insurance is higher!!  Crazy thinking on their part!
