Saturday my son and I trundled on into Wal-Mart for groceries, for me, and I decided that I was going to get myself a decent camera. My Canon sure shot isn't a sure thing anymore. Half the time that Canon doesn't work, sometimes the date goes back to the year of the camera, necessitating changing the date again, and sometimes it tells me it needs a new battery after it's already got a new one in!
SOooooo I chose a Kodak Easy Share Zoom Digital camera. I love how it works, it's easy to take the pictures, delete them, and there's so much about it that I have to learn! Yesteray I felt like I had gotten in over my head with this toy, however I love photography so am going to do my best to learn all I can about this camera.
It has a Drive button to choose the "burst mode". The camera can take up to 6 pictures while the shutter button is pressed. It also has a "last burst" mode that takes up to 30 pictures while the shutter is pressed.
The optical zoom can get up to 12X closer to the subject, and I did buy a memory card. The Focus button has Macro mode, landscape, manual focus and normal. It has exposure bracketing for determing the best exposure level for the conditions, and this is something I've never encountered so I'll have to work at this with the camera.
The Capture modes really blow me away, there's Smart scene, there's someting called PASM which is program, aperture prioity, shutter priority, and manual mode. Also there is "Favorites, Video, Scene, High-ISO, and Sport. High ISO is for shooting people in low-light scenes, and it minimizes red eye.
I'd like to write about it more, however that would entail writing directly from the manual, and that's actually where I'm at right now! Have to read and write.
I know it's going to be fun to be able to upload pics to JU, instead of having to wait until they're developed and then scan them! Which by the way I just had some pix developed and have scanned them, so can put them up tomorrow. I promised serenity I'd post pics of those Mallard hens that visited me last summer
If it wasn't for all the help I get from my son, a lot of this stuff I get or want to have wouldn't be happening, he knows how tech challenged I am and does things I'd either not do or else I wouldn't buy the fun stuff, like computers.
So hopefully after a week I"ll be able to put up pics that both him and me have taken, I WILL say that this new camera sure shows how a person really looks, and by golly I've gotten a whole lot older than that pic of me that was taken last year......or else it's just because it's such a great camera. I think I"ll my son get a pic of me with MY funny hat, it's a sleep apnea mask, with a hose and a halter over the head, oh my.....I look I'm from outterspace in that thing! Time to give JUsers a giggle at me!
Kodak rules!
