I was treated to the company of my number 2 child yesterday, and also Saturday,  so I wasn't around to blog about things that have been on my mind lately.  I had planned on blogged about the good things in life,  the things I take for granted,  the things I love, and why I have to keep kicking myself to try to be humble when I'm so happy.  Then tonight,  the city broke a water main and we have no water now until tomorrow...so i was going to blog about life's ...

OK,  just some information from "back in the day"  when I took a temp. cooking job at the Eau Claire County jail,  year was 1969. I think I've blogged about this before,  at least stated that I had cooked there.  Maybe I didn't write about the meals... Breakfast was basic,  oatmeal,  toast with butter and jam on the side.  Milk, juice, and coffe.  Fruit.  On the weekend I'd make pancakes and fry sausage and bacon,  with eggs. ...

My son and I have been playing "Pool" and another game that's like Scrabble,  called "Literati" I think.  We play them online and this concept is totally new to me! Being tech challenged I lost almost every single game until just this week,  then one night,  shortly after my blog about inmates and their meals,  somehow I managed to win 7 or 8 games in a row!  Gosh dang it,  he was "letting me win"!  Don't ya just hate it when someone "lets you ...

Things are going along swimmingly well here,  no new outbreaks of serious diseases,  no landlord just walking into my apt. when he feels like it,   no shortage of food,  and man oh man there's lots of heat in MN.! Just when it finally cooled down to a comfy 74 degrees,  the weather did an about face,  again.  That's the mid-west for ya. Perusing the local paper's "Sheriff's Report" is always an entertaining event. From the 4th of August came the story of a concerned citizen that called the Sheriff to report a suspicious person walking down the street,  carrying what looked like a gun. It turned out to be unfounded,  it was young blong girl,  dressed in jeans and tee-shirt,  carrying a birthday cake..... Ya that's the kind of stories we get up here.   Sadly there's always the "bad news"...

Figuring out that new Kodak camera isn't as hard as I thought it would be for me.  Usually I have to read and re-read directions a cajillion time before I get it.  Tonight,  after figuring out how to use the video cam part,  the first two videos were of the cat,  then I spied a herd of crows perched on the garage roof,  LOL.  My Lord,  they were struting around and playing in the stagnant water like a bunch of teenage boys! My cousin's daughter is close to death,  from cancer.  She has three children.  It started out as a simple case of a "little cancer"  in her finger and now she's lost her arm and it's infiltrated her body. This is what I hate about life.  It isn't right that a sweet, beautiful,  and otherwise healthy young person have this happen to them. I'd heard of the movie,  however hadn't seen it until tonight.  It was on the Hallmark Channel and I promptly fell in love with it!  It reminded me of tv shows and movies I"ve seen,  part "Little House on the Prairie",  "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers",  and "Bonanza". Nothing like a feel good movie after a rought 24 hours.... Yesterday I went shopping for bread and milk and came home with strawberries,  two new blouses,  and a new skirt!...

A perfect day,  clear skies,  sunshine,  a soft breeze,   and....I have to go to the dentist. Who'd have thunk it?   a dental clinic open on Sunday?! Ya,  the Smile Center is open on Sunday,   so I get to go in and have a small piece of bone shaved off the roof of my mouth,  it hurts my mouth when I wear my upper denture,  and as a result haven't been using my denture.  Let me tell ya,  that ain't a pretty sight!  ...
