Life, laughs, love and tears.
OK so I don't have a sense of humor...

So what if I didn't like it?  I'd call it a "snoozer",  the kind I sleep through at drive-ins,  if I'm alone

It was just plain boring,  well there was a couple of surprises in it,  and a few laughs.  I was surprised it was funny enough in spots to coax a belly laugh outta me.

If I"m gonna watch a comedy,  I prefer something like the original "The Odd Couple" with Jack Lemon and Walter Mathau.  I think that's funny.  The Three Stooges was a group I couldn't stand,  however "The Little Rascals" ( the orignals again)  are tops for giggles and a feel good show.

I bet most of you haven't heard of "Francis the Talking Mule",  it was big back in the 50's,   and a forerunner of "Mr. Ed".  There might have been movies or shows with this theme before "Francis".

Laurel and Hardy only made me cry,  I couldn't stand how much the skinny one got bullied by the big one.  It's a lot like the western heroes of the 50's,   with lots of violence,  more than I remembered until I started watching them recently.  My older sister had mentioned to me that she thought they were too violent and then I watched a few and was surprised.  Odd too that of all the western heroes,  the only one that had a wife was Roy Rogers,  in the shows I mean.  Gene Autry,  who had some really gorgeous horses,  usually kissed them!   Lord did I like his singing voice!

The cowboys usually had more than one horse too,  there were several "Champions",  the horse that Gene Autry rode.  Same for "Silver",  and of course there was "Trigger" and Trigger Jr.

Oh I can write forever about those silver screen cowboys,  I guess it was the horses I went to the movies to watch though.  I think it was the Lone Ranger I looked up to the most,  and used to be Trigger was my favorite horse "in the day".

I'm trying to talk my son into watching "High Crimes" with me,  or else "Murder at 600" although I think he's seen that last one.

We usually compromise and end up watching a cartoon blitz,  or else a movie like "Star Wars"......whatta way to spend the day.

And how's the day going where you are?

"Scary Movie" sucks big time

I didn't care for that much either. The chopped up TV version is even worse. And worse still the first sequel. I swear, the DVD menus for Scary Movie 2 were funnier than the actual film. I like the third and fourth ones, though. I guess I prefer Jim Abrahams (of Airplane! fame) to Wayans brothers. (I love the running gag of Regina Hall's character Brenda getting killed in every movie but showing up in the next as if nothing had ever happened.)

(Come to think of it, I can't think of a single Wayans brothers project since In Living Color I've thought was any good. Hmmm.)

the original "The Odd Couple" with Jack Lemon and Walter Mathau.

I liked the sequel, too; but I'm in the minority on that opinion. I think it's one of Neil Simon's best purely motion picture scripts (as opposed to play adaptations).

I keep thinking about Francis. I'd love to see those movies again. They were always playing them on TV when I was a kid, but good weekend and late-night movies were killed off by infomercials.

Mr. Ed wasn't fit to hold Francis's oat bag!

I'm pretty sure one can get them from places like Critic's Choice Videos,  and there's one that I know for sure carries it,  the only part of the name that I can remember is "Collection".  A Google search should help you there.

Mr. Ed was on when I was about 12 or so and I was still horse crazy,  especially for Palominos    got to agree with your comment about him vs Francis!

I enjoyed the sequel too,   didn't care for the version with Steve Martin.

And it was the chopped up version that I saw on tv the other night!

well I'd never have believed frogs had hair,  but then aging makes humans grow hair in their ears,  on their chins.....   I'm a believer

I remember Francis.  And I love the Marx brothers and 3 stooges.  And of course Martin and Lewis.  Never got into Laurel and Hardy.

But my favorite comedies are more contemporary.  Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Airplane.

As for Cowboys, well there is Fonda, Wayne, and Eastwood!  And the last one sings too!

I didn't see the Marx Brothers while I was growing up,   however did see and love Martin and Lewis!  Especially Jerry Lewis.  I think the cowboys you mention are more of a "man's" man type of cowboy.
